Caulking Around Your Windows And Doors

Saving energy is important. Caulking around windows and doors is one of the easiest ways to stop air and water leaks, either inside or outside, which will save energy. Besides, it's very easy to do.

If you are not familiar with caulking and have never used a caulking gun, talk to the people at your local hardware store for recommendations. Each area of the country uses something different.

There are two methods to apply caulking. The first is to push the putty in front of the gun. The second is to drag the caulk behind the gun. Although I use both, depending on the circumstances,

I tend to drag the caulk and then use my finger to push well into the crack I'm filling.

Make sure you do not allow caulking to enter any other surface than the one you are trying to seal. The bricks, for example, lose there the plea if the caulk is stained everywhere. My suggestion is to place adhesive tape on this area to protect the surface. Remove the tape when it is finished.

Here are the steps to caulk around windows and doors.

1. Clean and remove all loose material where you will caulk.

2. Wash the area where the caulking will go.

3. Place the adhesive tape to protect where you do not want the caulking to go.

4. Install caulk on caulk gun.

5. Press the pressure release to prevent Caulk from coming out of the pipe.

6. Press caulking in place with finger

7. Paint the new caulk. Caulking is not sunlight (UV).

8. Remove the tape.

There you go. Quick and easy. Now just repeat the process. If applied correctly, it will provide years of useful life.
